Race Updates

Dirty-Kanza-200_008Over the past 4 weeks, Morrowfit athletes along with myself have been competing in races across the region.  Luther Ottaway got things started at the Prairie Fire 1/2 marathon where he set a new PR for the 1/2 marathon!  On May 17th, Chris Hughes successfully completed his 2nd full Ironman race at the Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas race.  That same weekend, Chrissy Usher was competing at the Kansas City Triathlon where she finished 1st in her age group!

This past weekend, Luther continued his success with a 3rd place age group finish in the 10k at this years Wichita River Run!  Chrissy headed to Oklahoma to take part in the Route 66 Triathlon in El Reno, OK!  Once again, Chrissy did very well as the 4th overall female and a 1st in her age group!

This past weekend was also the DK200 bike race held each year in Emporia, Kansas.  The DK200 is a 200 mile gravel road bike race through the flint hills which this year drew 1200 participants from 44 states and 8 countries. For those not quite interested or sure about riding 200 miles, there is a 100 mile option as well.  This year, I was fortunate to be part of the Chamois Butt’r Cycling Team.  I would like to personally thank Curt Shelman for the invite and allowing me to tag along. I enjoyed being part of a great group of guys and gals and enjoyed representing Chaim Butt’r and some of the great products they produce.  http://chamoisbuttr.com  As for the race, it was a near perfect weather day with an overcast sky and light winds.  Thanks to Colin Shelman and Jerry Jones for the company and encouragement along the way which made a long day in the saddle a lot more enjoyable!   A BIG congratulations to Jeff Usher who not only had his best DK200 finish, but also made the podium along side Curt Shelman.  I would also like to thank my support crew, Lisa Jones, Kelly and Laura Harper and Trey Harrison who made the checkpoint stops work flawlessly!  Congratulations to all those participants who made the conscious effort to get on the starting line and challenge themselves with such a great adventure!
